Brisbane -> Melbourne in 4½ days. Night Locations?

Postby mouth » Thu Jan 15, 2009 5:11 pm

Hi All,

I have 4½ days to get a Motorhome from Brisbane to Melbourne. Open to suggestions on places and caravan parks to stay at each night along the way. Any that you can recommend?

motorhome may be hard, dare i say you may need to lookup the big4 parks and look for locations. I know there is a nice park in coffs, but not sure it will accom a motorhome.

Hard? Really? It wouldn't be any bigger than car and trailer, and less in size than a vehicle and caravan. It's only 6mtr long, 2.2mtr wide, and 3.4mtr tall. I would have thought that a powered site and any caravan park would be fine? I was even hoping for some surfside national/state park locations along the coastal region with or without power.

If you are travelling during school hoildays then getting into a place on the coast may be tricky. The option would be to travel down the inland way. Also depends on what you want to see on the way. Suggest you consult a road atlas and see what within reach on a reasonable days drive.

When are you travelling, and what route are you planning on taking?

Why don't you get a Camps Aust Wide 4 book and plan it from there?? A motorhome should be pretty self sufficient.

Thanks all, we will traveling the coastal/princess highway fairly much all the way, diverting onto coastal rd's/bypasses where time and distance allows. Have decided we'll be staying in Kempsey, Umina Beach, Merimbula, and Yarram :)

I'm interested to see any reccomended places as I hope to do this trip (in the opposite direction) later in the year. Although I will be looking for free/low cost options going in a Camper Trailer.

Checking out maps and official websites and even Camps 4 can give you some ideas but a review/reccomendation from someone that has been there is much better.

How far off the main road are you prepared to go ?
