Expensive electrical fault

Expensive electrical fault

Postby Argle » Wed Feb 04, 2009 12:00 pm

A couple of pics of a dump truck that suffered a minor electrical fault - the con rod and piston punched the alternator off on the way out of the side of the block :*** - end result scratch one V16 engine ::() ::()

Excellent photo's, When I was a mechanic I used to see similar catastrophes but on a much smaller scale ;)

Hate to be doing the cleanup on that one, we once had a big oil sludge spill after some idiot apprentice at work put a couple of 40 gal drums of sludge & oil from our seperator in the big industrial garbage bin & then the garbage truck came to pickup the dumpster bin & we were sitting outside having morning tea & watched oil pour out of the bottom of the garbage truck after the drums leaked, the driver failed to notice as he drove out the back gate leaving a big oil slick down the road (we called out & then rang the company, but too late)

The truck left a huge pool of sump oil at a local intersection, which resulted in a 3 car pile up, then the council came out & dumped tonnes & tonnes of sand from our gate to the intersection.

As far as I know our work did not foot the bill at all, never heard what happened, maybe the garbage truck mob copped the bill? mind you this was about 15 years ago & the EPA was not as big back then?
