Looking for a good weekend camping spot near Adelaide

Postby Fingerbone Bill » Tue Mar 17, 2009 10:43 pm

Hi guys,

I've just bought a second hand YP Spirit camper trailer and I'm looking for a good weekend camping spot somewhere not too far from Adelaide.

Prefer somewhere with toilets and showers.

I've read on this forum about Spear Creek but that's about 4 hours drive from Adelaide and would prefer maybe 2 hours perhaps 3 for a really good spot.

Can anyone recommend any camping locations?

Depending on what you want, you could head to Butlers beach near Marion Bay. (Hillocks Drive) No power on the sights, but there are showers and toilets a short drive from the sites. All sites are close to beach or cliffs. Great surf fishing, and cheap. $10 per car per night and $2 a day for showers. No need to book, as there is 7km of camping spots. Just do a google search.

You could also try Mannum or swan reach on the river, both have good caravan parks. Not sure of cost, but have everything you need. Plenty to do in the local areas.

Perhaps you could go to the Barrosa as well, the Tanunda caravan park is clean and will also provide what you are after. And plenty of wineries in the area to "sample the wares"

There are a stack of places to go with in 2 hours of Adelaide. Good luck with it.

Cheers

Yeah Deep Creek is real good but I go there all the time and am looking for somewhere different to go this time.

Here's the link to my thread about Deep Creek: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1100

Hi mate how about considering somewhere like the Melrose Caravan Park in the beautiful Southern Flinders or Robe in the South East? Choices - just too many choices!!
