NSW: HELP! Im planning my 3rd CAMPING trip!

Postby naddy » Wed Mar 25, 2009 2:50 pm

Hi all,

First of all, great website! I've only signed up today and already learnt a handful of tips so far!

Anyways i need help on my next camping trip, with WHERE to camp.

preferbly I want a location thats near a lake or a beach for fishing

My previous trips include;

1. Jervis Bay - Greenpatch - An absolutely beauty of a place!! bad thing is that its about 2.5hrs drive from sydney =(
2. Garie beach - North Era - also very lovely and scenic, a bit of a hike but well worth it!
3. originally i was thinking of the Basin to camp but u can't park ur car next to ur site so that crosses it off the list.

Does anyone know any other spots thats about 1-1.5hrs drive away from Sydney, Liverpool area?
-close to water
-camp next or near your vehicle

that's all really! any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Glad you like our forum and feel it is beneficial for you. Sorry I also cannot help with any locations in that area but there are others here who will.

Try Putty Beach near Woy Woy. It's a nice swimming beach with the sites 100 metres from the beach. Haven't camped there personally, but have been to the beach several times.

How about Lake Lyell near Lithgow? it is cheap ($10 per vehicle) has fishing/swimming/boating, a mate from work went fishing there last weekend & caught a trout..... oh and some carp :-bang

There is cold showers, a playground for the kids......

Royal National Park - great fishing, take a yabbie pump and pull up yabbies and hermit crabs for live bait!

Right next to Bundeena - not far away at all.

Suggest you get a copy of National Parks Guide - its free. They list the parks and facilities available around Sydney. There are several to chose from.

Munmorah State Conservation Area

This place is beautiful! Near where I live :) and I have camped at the Frazer Beach site a few times. I highly recommend it.
