Sydney Central coast, Newcastle, hunter get together

Postby Pauly » Thu Apr 02, 2009 7:30 pm

Gee guys I just read last years effort of a roll call, No wonder the QLD guys are laughing.

Answer a couple of these so maybe just maybe an overnight BBQ some beers and a night under the canvas could be arranged in NSW

First up how far would you travel for a weekend away.

What facilities do you need for a weekend away

Do you have a $WD or 2WD

I guess lastly how many are from the Sydney Central coast, Newcastle, Hunter Region?

We're 4wd with CT
Are we talking boy's weekend away or family campout ?
(I'd prefer the family bit, our 4yo looooves camping, so she'll be stoked)

Family.
Just seeing what sort of interest there is, thinking somewhere like frying pan in chichester, free reasonable amenities (drop toilet), plenty of room and kid/dog friendly.

I am thinking a forrest is better than van park, more freedom less rules and it will give anybody who hasnt or dosnt bush camp a safe introduction

Chichester is a lovely place and I'm happy for that to be the location, but if numbers dwindle due to the distance from Sydney, we could also give the Wadigans State Forest a go as it's only 90min north of Sydney's northern sub's.

I recently got the details of a fantastic lookout site in the Wadigans from Redback that would also suit, only drawback, it's dirt road. Was good enough to accomodate a new CRV a few weeks ago, just need to take it easy.

Just something to keep in mind

Steve is that the Wattagons? From what I have seen the camping areas isnt real flash.

Theres another area further south I just cant recall the name.

No place is set as such its mainly to get an idea of who is interested and how far people will travel etc that way a destination can be worked out.

It appears theres not many from this region on the site or are they being shy :o

The main camping grounds in the Watagans are ok, I don't camp there purely because I find them too crowded.
There are however lesser known spots up some of the forestry trails which we regularly investigate, but being a forestry ground, it's not as green as Chichester and doesn't have the water supply either.

Pauly, don't mean to be a downer but if it's a booze-fest your intending, no problems, but I think it's something you'd probably put up front initially.
Lots of families with littlies won't want to go near a booze fueled campsite
