My name's Dick, I'm married to Robyn with two boys, Jack (6) and Ryan (3).
We're from Craigieburn in Melbourne's north.

Spent the Easter long weekend camping with friends at Loch Sport.
It's renewed my spark for getting away!
We used an old, mouldy two room tent, with a broken door zip and window flaps that let the rain in.
Needless to say, it's in the bin!

The boys both enjoyed the weekend with no TV ( :o !) so we'd like to get away more often.
Hope to chat and get some info from you all.

Cheers,
Dick

Hi Dick and WELCOME to the forum. Glad to hear of your renewed interest in camping and your recent easter camp.

I suppose it now means you are on the lookout for some new camping gear!!

It is amazing how the kids forget about the TV etc when they are out camping. Needless to say it is a great environment for them too. My advice would be to include them in the packing up and setting up as well. It gives them a sense of contribution. Even Ryan can help out by carrying the pegs for you and Jack could hold the poles etc.

Jack might even like to have his own tent, if not now then in the not too distant future.

Lots of members here who are willing to share their tips and tricks for successful camping. And we look forward to hearing of your adventures.

Cheers....Gypsy.

We went looking for tents today, guess who asked for his own tent?!!!

Thanks for the welcome... I hope to join in on discussions when I can.

Hi Dick and welcome!

How were the Mossies? Loch Sport use to have the bigest, badest, meanest mossies in the universe!

What part of Victoria is Loch Sport?
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt - then it's bloody hilarious!

:hello:

We did our first camping trip on the weekend and had a blast too.
It's nice getting away from it all - technology included.

The mossie capital! :)

Actually, it's between the Gipsland lakes and the sea.

Hello and welcome fellow Victorians.

Anaconda had some small tents going pretty cheap.
I picked up a basic 2 man tent for my son before Xmas for $19.

Saw the pics of your Loch Sport camp, looked like loads of fun.

I'm still working on my trip report from Easter (well haven't actually started it ;) )

HG Monaro, when we got there we had a couple of B52 sized mozzies hanging around, but out came the Aeroguard and to be honest they didn't seem to bother us too much. My youngest ended up with 3 on his face... not too bad!

Bradd, thanks for the tip!

Gypsylady, no I didn't oblige... I've still got a 2 man tent I will let him have.

He he... that's pretty cool, I will have to bestow it upon him (it'll give him a sense of responsibility!)
