Winter camping without hot showers doesn't work for us I'm afraid (yes wimpy I know).
It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt - then it's bloody hilarious!

There are hot showers. Just have to boil the water first. :*** :*** :*** :***

I love camping in winter. One of my memorable trips was in the Snowy Mountains.

I have no problem with winter camping, in fact I enjoy it - but only when there is a decent hot water supply.

Carla

Carla, my kids are of the canine variety. The shower set up is ok but you will have to heat your own water if the group are not going to run the donkey as Val (owner) does not do it.

If you are able to heat some water then you will find the shower quite acceptable....and a lot better than going without for 3 whole days. Of course the kids will be fine with a quick tub and there are small wash basins provided up at the amenities block.

If you can heat water for a cuppa then you can heat it for a shower Carla. There is water on tap for showers etc but you will need to take your own drinking water.

There are also some basic huts available if you think that is more suitable Carla and they are very cheap.

Derek will best be able to advise of how many families are going Carla.

Sometimes great camping is about being inventive....

I don't drink cups of tea either Gypsy Lady.... lol
I'll wait and see if other families with very young kids are coming. It might not be the forum for young kids.... I don't wish to subject unwillilng people to small girls who squeal ..... lord knows there are days I get sick of hearing it..... it is the one thing that makes camping 'not so relaxing anymore' lol

At this stage we don't have anyone with younger kids coming but why not be the first to stick your hand up then others may follow.

In saying that though I am sure that no-one will be concerned with kids being there. I know I certainly won't.

I'd like to say I will come along Derek but unfortunately I am not able to give a committment at this time. It is only 2 weekends away & I am pretty strapped time wise at the moment.

I do hope it all comes together for you Derek.

Cheers....
