4wd Park List - Website & Info

4wd Park List - Website & Info

Postby stevo. » Sun Dec 07, 2008 11:29 am

I'm sure there's some people on this site that might be in to some 4wding so I thought i'd put together a list of privately run 4wd parks, with some websites and details about each place. I have only put the ones i know of and it just so happens that they're all in QLD! Seriously though, i don't know of any in other states so if you know of some post them up and i'll add them to this list! :armsup

These are all privately run 4wd parks. It's not a list of National Parks or State Forest areas. Most are cattle/sheep properties that have ventured in to the 4wd park thing to earn extra money.

I would hardly call Glendon a 4WD park Meeky!! We did all the tracks (not very many)in 2WD.

Thanks Steve and probably 'non existant' would be more like it...

Glendon makes quite a few claims most of which are a real 'stretch'. The one thing they don't advertise is the number of ticks that they have and I mean ticks jumping/falling out of the trees onto people.

I can also vouch for Levuka too, very good campgrounds, easy to extreme tracks, some very extreme tracks especially in the wet, great 4WD playground and test track area as well.

I can vouch for Rover Park, the facilities are very good, they even provide tankwater at all the campsites, most of the drives are excellent and suitable for stock 4WDs, the swimming hole (called The Beach) is a bit of a climb though, not suited to the elderly or the unfit, as we found out ;)

Black Duck Valley is closed. Too many injuries and deaths of motorbike riders and was ruled on by the courts.

CityView is technically still operating, but in a limited capacity at the moment. Camping is not very good for families, OK for the boys in swags though.

Janowen Hills is a great 4wd Park, and has excellent camping facilities for those liking a small amount of luxuries.

Rover Park is great, but not as good as it was before the motor bike area. But they needed to do that. Not actually in QLD though.

Crystalvale is suitable only on the dry. Camping is basic, but doable.

Enjoy the 4WD Parks while you can.

The deaths at Black Duck are pushing liability insurance through the roof and I expect it will only be a matter of time before we see others close as well.

Not sure if this has been posted, but The Springs 4wd Park was sold, but as far as i know it is still operating as a 4wd park.

Rover Park goes up for auction May 15 (2009)

There is a new 4wd park South of Brisbane. Beside the old Cityiew 4wd Park but has nothing to do with it, it's called Senic Rim 4wd Adventure Park. I'll add some details to the above list.

Cityview 4wd Park is closed.

I wondered about that one....now I know, it is a new one. Thanks for the update Meeky

I thought for a minute it may have been the former Tookeron, but obviously not.

Yeah brand new. Opened at Easter. James (a dude in our 4wd club) has gone in with a couple of other people and bought the land. I think it's 600 acres. I haven't been there so i don't know if it's any good but apparently they have spent a bit of money setting it all up with showers and toilets etc.
