Murray River Camping Spots?

Postby luvcamping » Wed Jun 10, 2009 11:34 am

Hi everyone, I am new to this site and was hoping that someone out there maybe able to send some information my way.
My family, along with another group of eager campers (about 10 in total) are looking at going camping along the Murray River around the Mildura, Wentworth area during the last week of the NSW July School Holidays (brrr).
Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about good bush camp sites with lots of space, good access to the river (we will be taking a tinnie), access to firewood, preferrably not a caravan park (although any suggestion would be welcomed). We will need 2WD access as well (don't want much do I).
I have read some info about Kings Billabong Reserve at Mildura, does anybody know about this Reserve and what it is like?
I look forward to your suggestions. Thanks.

Probably too late, but i would recommend staying on a houseboat at that time of the year, warm inside, real kitchen, fish, pull up to the bank anytime, there is big ones that take 10 - 12 people etc

Yup, I'm all for camping but occasionally you need a spot of luxury ;)
We have this one booked for Sept. Can't wait ::)

Sure looks pretty luxurious to me and I am sure you will have a great time of it.

Go for it.....

Thanks for your suggestion of Houseboat. We have previously thought about hiring one but is a little too expensive for us at this time and we really do like to rough it in the bush.
Holiday time is fast approaching and can't wait for some time out. Here's hoping the weather is kind to us, but as someone said 'a bad day camping is better than a good day at work' or something like that!!

Reckon I could do a week on that houseboat.
On the Murray that is.
Not exactly roughing it!

Whilst I don't run with the Egyptian cotton, I do have percale on the bed for both home and camping. Camping does not mean you have to ‘rough’ it in any way…

BTW...the campfires on the bank get my vote too....

Whatever way you like to camp.....Enjoy

Sorry folks but never be a houseboat or caravan person as thats not camping in my books. I have a house at home and I like to get away from the mod con's. A mobile motel doesn't do nothing for me. But yeah I wish ya all the best on ya Murry River Camping trip.:)

That's what I like to call GLAM-PING (glamorous camping)

spa bath, decent BBQ, wine chiller, too swish for me but geez that's a nice house boat.
