QLD - Poverty Creek Bribie Island

The good
It's a government run thing so it's only $5 per night per person
They have fire rings/pits, so you can have a fire
You have to book a specific numbered site before you go there, so you can't just turn up.
Almost beside the water, short walk to the water/Sea, so you can fish.

The bad
You have to book a specific numbered site before you go there, so you can't just turn up.
Even if you book a place online you may not get that spot. Other people that book at the shop are told to camp where ever they want.
It's in the middle of nowhere. Surrounded by pine plantations. All chopped down when we were there.

yer, in one good way, you can not drive your car all over the camp ground, but that's we prefer to do, we like to use our vehicles as part of the camp. As you probably know, you can run lights and fridges from the vehicles.

They do have another area across the track that is marked as "Groups and Camper Trailers" which is an open area and you can set up camp with your vehicle, but in that area you are not allowed fires.

As with most things, i think they all come up with some rules with good intention, but you can't suit eveyone.

Permits are about $35 for a week, or about $115 for a year (i can't remember the exact amount). A bit expensive i guess, but it's the closest beach driving you can do near Brisbane, and the beach is pretty nice. It's pretty quiet because most ferals go to Double Island/Rainbow Beach/Inskip.

Poverty Creek camp site is 4wd access only, as you have to travel through some sandy forest tracks to get there.
