Camping family

Postby Millscasey » Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:58 am

Hi all,

New to the site. We are a family with two little boys and a puppy, we all just did a fantastic stint at Rainbow Waters camping and can't wait until our next trip.

We'd love to hear your reveiws, opinions and advice on good boating and dog friendly camping grounds in NSW and QLD. We'd also eventually love to be able to make some camping buddies who also have children!

Happy New Year all!

Welcome to the forum. Camping for the youngsters will provide them with great childhood memories. I can still remember all the family camping holidays and there highlights.

And a happy new year to you too

Rainbow Waters has been on our 'must go there' list but we have been partially dissuaded by reports on this forum of excessive mosquito/sandfly numbers. Did you have any problems with being stung? Did you find the facilities adequate for the crowd?

We've enjoyed Rainbow Beach but looking at the map RWs is closer to the mangroves and just a very different place even though it's quite close to RB.

Hi Elaine,
No problems with bites whatsoever! We had the camp fires going which may have helped. RW is highly recommended, Tin Can Bay is beautiful with dolphin feeding and sea cows for the watching and plenty of mud crabs- and the beach is just down the road. We were there over Xmas and NY and there was plenty of room- although the threat of rain may have kept a few families home.
Cheers x
