Australia Day Weekend

Postby amanda » Wed Jan 06, 2010 3:43 pm

We're heading to Murphy's Creek Escape (90 minutes from Brisbane at the base of the Toowoomba Range) for the Australia Day long weekend. As discovered by Gypsy Lady, this camp ground has recently reopened under new owners.

The Australia Day weekend is their official opening weekend and they have various activities happening on the Sunday including horse riding, laser skirmish, 4WD family rides, kids train ride, fairy floss, face painting, sculpture demonstration, spit roast catering, sausage sizzle, bird feeding, a local band and more.

Sounds like a great weekend away for singles, couples, families and pooches, so if anyone is looking for an Australia Day weekend destination this might just be it.

We have booked an unpowered creek front site, and Peter tells me there are still some creek front sites available suitable for tents and CT's. Fires are permitted in braziers that are provided.

You will need to book by phoning Peter at Murphy's Creek on 07 4630 5353. http://www.murphyscreekescape.com.au/

It would be great if we could manage some camping.com trips away this year, and it would be even better if we started off with the first long weekend of the year. Please feel free to PM me if you need anymore info.

I'll be sure to give a report on it when we get back. It does look like a good spot though, doesn't it?

holly crap, lucky you posted here GP, coz i have been searching the forum to find this post again, i lost it.

yeah i went to Murphys Creek about 10 years ago, but we didn't investigate the park too much, we just stayed and went off for a drive through the local forests. I can't even remember where we went.

Probably about the same time I was out there as well...not in my current vehicle though.

I used to run a 60 series Cruiser in those days.
