Heard about a woman who had just lost her husband (or as Rumpole would
say "how careless of her"). He had made an allowance of $100,00.00 for
his funeral. When the arrangements were made, a very nice function was
held to see him off.
A friend was discussing the funeral with the woman some time later and
was remarking on the fact that the funeral did not appear to cost
anywhere near the amount set aside for it.
The friend noted that by far the biggest cost was for the memorial
stone. "My goodness" said the friend, "how big was the memorial stone?"
"Two and a half carats" said the widow.
