Queens Birthday Long Weekend Camping Get Together

Postby amanda » Wed Feb 17, 2010 8:58 am

Let's try to get a SE Qld weekend away happening on the Queens Birthday weekend.

Our "want" list is:

- Family friendly
- Pet friendly
- Campfires permitted
- Toilets
- Hot showers

GL has suggested Andrew Drynan south of Beaudesert which seems to tick all of our boxes, however if anyone has other ideas please feel free to suggest them.

For now it would be good to get an idea of how many are interested, so please complete the attached poll.

Sounds great. I'm interested but have to confirm the dates with hubby. I think he has a volleyball tournament that weekend which doesn't really affet me but it's still nice to check. So I'll hold my vote for the moment.

I am sitting on the fence, only because Queens Bday (14th June) long weekend for NSW doesn't sit with the July school hols. We're going overseas for 2 weeks from 18th June and geing a Sydney-sider, it'll be a long haul to SEQ for a 3 day weekend and right before a flight won't help. Bummer... but we'll see.

AD Park may not be suitable - other than not having showers, there is also a request in that we go somewhere that offers both powered and non-powered sites, so let's see if we can come up with some alternatives.

Yes there is a flowing creek. Yes every man and his dog will be there.

Although queens birthday will be in the middle of winter wont it? That would cut down the numbers probably.

Ok to meet all those requirements I suggest Kilkivan Bush Camping http://www.bushcamping.com.au/

Or

MCE http://www.murphyscreekescape.com.au/

That Murphys Creek looks ok Might be ok for a winter camp too as Toowoomba can be very cool and not to far a drive.

The kids might not want to swim in the winter months....

and......there is no swimming at Kilkivan and limited swimming at MCE.
