That's a really nice looking setup there YCF. You can always hire a trailer (or borrow from a friend) for your next camping trip, so you can squeeze some more stuff in! ::)

hoadie72 wrote:Hi all, I thought I'd post here as a way of introduction and show some pics of where I've camped. As I car camp, nothing too extreme, though I do still prefer to camp in the bush over caravan parks. I don't use many of the facilities in caravan parks, though I do like a hot shower from time to time :D

I still car camp sometimes if it a two day-er and close to home,a lot less hassle i do take a tarp to put up over the car and i sleep in the car with 3 dogs. The dome tents i find so hard to put up especially since i camp on my own most of the time, i have bought a tourer tent, quick and easy and like a little house.

These are the only photos of our camp at Mystery Bay that I took. Doh! The photos are pretty bad quality, but I wanted to post them because it was the first time ever that I put up a tarp. All by myself!!! I got my 5yo to help at first, but she wasn't strong enough to hold up the poles. It was much easier than I thought it would be. Having 2 trees the right distance apart did help, especially as I lost 2 poles the day before. The tarp was a bit low on one side and sagged a bit in the middle, but it held up well in the rain and I even collected some rainwater to rinse the dishes with. :)

It was also the first time I used my new Blackwolf Mojave tent and my camp pantry. The first time I had anything that resembled a camp kitchen actually! We rearranged the kitchen when my friends arrived with their stuff. Having to reserve a spot for them was also the reason why the tent is so far away from the tarp. I tried to spread out to deter people from moving in! It did kind of work even if I had to stay at the camp all day on the last day to tell people they could not camp at the opposite side of where we were because our friend were arriving any moment. They were about 3 hours late!

Lin they are great pics and might I say what a great job you did with the tarp....it does not have to be pretty just functional and you scored on both counts....CONGRATULATIONS.

There is definitely a bit of a knack to putting up a tarp on your own but as you now know, it can be done AND it will be easier the next time you do it.

Euroka Campground in the Blue Mountains, Friday just gone. Was really just a test run for the tent as I'm going away late March. Friday was dead quiet, Saturday a bit busier, with 3 groups rocking up late afternoon :(

This was our most recent setup. The fridge is hired from the caravan park we share between all of us that head up to North Haven.
