Sydney Gathering - WISEMAN'S FERRY -

Postby Dodgy_Dave » Wed Mar 17, 2010 11:06 am

Who would like to go on a trip that's close to Sydney, easy to get to, not far from water, and good for a 1 or 2 night stay?

LOCATION: Wiseman's Ferry "Mill Creek Camping Area" Dharug National Park
DATE: Friday 16/4/10 - 18/4/10 (To be confirmed)
WHAT TO BRING: Any thing and everything. Suitable for swag, tent, camper trailer, caravan, Limosuine
COST: adults $10 Kids $5
Booking ph.43203203 Dharug National Park

Taken from; http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/Natio ... x?id=N0010
Mill Creek camping ground (30 sites)
Wheelchair access: easy
You'll find accessible, flat grassy sites by the creek here. Composting toilets are wheelchair-accessible. Camping fees apply.

This camping area is surrounded by rugged sandstone escarpments and dense eucalypt forests. Wildlife abounds - including wombats, wallaroos, goannas, lyrebirds and tiny sugar gliders. Many animals rely on fallen wood for shelter, so please bring your own firewood. Gas barbecues are available. The camping area is a great base for bushwalking, photography and nature studies. For some sites, you'll need to walk a short distance from your car. There is a large group camping area for up to 30 people, and Mill Creek picnic area is only 500 m down the road. The Grass Tree Circuit Track takes you through rainforest, dry eucalypt forest and past axe grinding sites at creek crossings. The 11km Circuit Track is a hard rugged walk that ascends the escarpment areas (take plenty of water). Autumn, winter and spring are the most pleasant seasons for camping-during summer, the surrounding sandstone escarpments retain and reflect heat into the valleys.

Getting there: The campground is just off Wisemans Ferry Road, 8km east of Wisemans Ferry.

Facilities: wood barbecues, gas/electric barbecues, non-flush toilets

Water supply: There is tank water, not suitable for drinking.

Contact: Central Coast, Phone: 02 4320 4200 (general enquiries), 02 4320 4203 (camping enquiries)

Love to get some pics and a bit of a story from the trip for the camping site Dettie. Don't worry I have already hit Ozzy up for one from his trip as well. I am trying to scrounge some reviews/stories for some site content so all are welcome and you will be published full credits of course.

Have an awesome trip DD... we'll definitely have to plan a Sydney gathering after June/July - a bit ahead of time so we can all schedule it into our busy diaries.
