Closest camping to Brisbane

Postby capella_ben » Fri Apr 16, 2010 12:59 pm

So where is the absolute closest camping spot to Brisbane? Is there just a really simple spot really close to Brisbane for a quick and easy overnight stay with the kids?

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Try jacobs well caravan park.
Might not be the closest to brissy but it's good for the kids and nice owners. They had night movies on a projector on saturday night as well, don't know if they still do though.

I'm sure there are plenty more and it would depend on exactly what type of camping you are after but this website may be a good start.

I'm in Coorparoo, so I'm resonably central.

Archer campground in D'Agular NP sounds nice. But it says that it is not suitable for camper trailers. From the small photo on the site it looks like it should be ok. Anyone been there with a CT? Perhaps I'll look in the reviews section of the forum.

Then my suggestions are Island Reach at Imbil; http://www.ircamping.com.au/

Spring Gully Stays at Canugra; http://www.springgullystays.com.au/

Kenilworth Homestead: http://www.kenilworthhomestead.com.au/

Flanagans Reserve: www.flanaganreserve.com.au

Kilkivan Bush Camping; http://www.bushcamping.com.au/

....just to name a few possibilities Ben.

Yes the Gorge Wilderness Park is CT friendly and has flush toilets but no hot showers unless you want to fire up the donkey onsite and you need to suppy the wood.

The showers are the old fashioned bucket style with a pull rope.
