Upcoming Trip

Postby Dale'n'Bren » Sat Jul 03, 2010 11:30 am

Hi Guys,
Planning a trip with the wife and four kids at christmas time. The downs to Murray Bridge in SA via Dubbo, Parkes down through Echuca etc. Wondering if anyone knows of any good 'free' camping spots along the way that we can plan ahead to stay at?

Hi D'n'B....WELCOME to the forum.

I suggest that you purchase the Camps Australia Wide 5 publication as it lists many free and low cost campsites aust wide.

You will also find quite a few along the way that are not listed in the book so just pull up and enjoy the countryside.

Also check out the Tourist Info Centres in each town; they will be able to tell you what is about in the local area.....talk to the locals.

Have a look at this site too: http://ozcamps.net/

I couldn't agree with you more Gipsy....the Camps Aust. Wide 5 is brilliant....If I could go one further and suggest the 'Snaps' edition....A little more to pay but we think ours is so great having the pic of where we are going.

Anything along the Murray at Xmas time will be chockas though.

We did a little trip down the Murray two Xmas's ago but stayed in CP's but had to book them in like May just to get in. When we did a boat ride along the Murray sightseeing the banks were really really full of campers. That was down Echuca, Swan Hill area.

This is also another good site for free camps. http://www.ozcamps.net/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=29
