Trip from Rockhampton to Townsville

Trip from Rockhampton to Townsville

Hi, we are thinking of taking a road trip for a week from Rocky to Townsville, and were thinking of taking a few days about it and camping (tenting) here and there. Any ideas?

You've not indicated when you are planning this trip james....I would be taking in Camilla Beach for sure....have never been there but have read of it many times and all in a positive light. I understand there is free camping available there as well. I had a look on google and came up with this.

BTW....it is definitely on my 'must see' list for my next trip north.

I've done that drive before, It took most of the day, and it was one of the most boring drives ever. Endless cane fields and some of the longest and straightest roads I've driven. I wish i was able to stay there but I only got a glimpse of Airlie Beach. From what I understand it's one of australia's most pristine beaches.

I loved townsville and I could see myself living there one day. I hired out a sports car and drove a little bit north and visited a couple of the rainforests, It was an absolutly beautiful spot to escape the heat and so relaxing sitting under one of the many waterfalls. It felt like a much needed massage. Beautiful scenery along the way. That was probably one of my best day's off ever.

Townsville has had a casino for quite a long time Rosco.....in fact I think they may have even had it before the GC.
