What are you wanting to weigh the tow ball weight on?
C T or Van or trailer?
How much do you think the unit weighs? may be as simple as using a home set of scales.

I cant see why cutting a lump of timber to the right height when the trailer is level and standing the drawbar on it on a set of bathroom scales wont give you the towball weight ... am I missing something in the name of physics ??
