Camping Lists ... ?

Postby chippy 76 » Wed Sep 29, 2010 8:29 am

Does anyone use (or have) a camping list that they refer to when packing to make sure they have everything ?
Care to share ?

Do a search Chippy....this has been done before and I am sure you find several lists supplied

I used to have a hard covered book which I carted with me every camp and every camp I'd check it to see what I could improve.

As I was packing the CT, I tick off the items on the list. Don’t need one any more…..could do it in my sleep.

Von has a list but keeps forgetting to use it.
We always forget something.
Mate pulled up at Glenrowan servo, filled up and drove off.
He left his daughter behind, thought she was still asleep in the back seat.
Took over, a half hour to realize.

LOL mum did that to my brother. She also took off whilst I was trying to get in the car - i was running allong half in half out the car for a few hundred metres before she realised what my brother and sister were yelling about.

As for lists I used to use the list on the aussie disposals site (assuming its still on there) these days I can do it in my sleep like GL. However I am building a trailer hopefully so I dont have to pack anything except clothes, food, water, drinks and the dog.
Its very rare I forget things - most of the time i take too much

I think provided you have things stored well you dont forget things.
I never forget my hammer because that is kept in a bag with the pegs and guy ropes which is tied to the bag the tent is in and the tarp sits on top of the tent bag.
The tables and chairs are kept on the fridge and the stove sits ontop of the kitchen boxes
I spose the only thing I have risk of forgetting would be bedding as thats kept in the house these days - but i think id notice if all my bedding was missing.

I still use one. Last time I re-wrote it, I went through the effort of doing it in excel and making it into a sortable table. I could sort it by heading (eg. sleeping stuff, kitchen stuff, my clothes, daughter's clothes) so they were somewhat grouped by where everything's kept too.

And then I could sort it by where in the car I have to pack it (eg. boot, roof, back - dog's side) as packing my car is like playing Tetris. It was a lot of work to make, but I enjoyed doing it and will keep using it.

If I don't use a list I tend to forget stuff still. I am so scatterbrained.

I'll see if I can attach it when I get home. If that doesn't work, I'll send you a personal message to ask for your email address.

Remind me, if I forget. Scatterbrained...

I didn't get it?

I'll have to have a open the file on my other computer tomorrow because my Excel trial has ended on the laptop and I just want to delete some of the stuff on it as it only applies to me. Like medications etc... And the food stuff as you probably don't want to know in minute detail what we had for every meal on our last camping trip.
