60L Primus Fridge/Freezer

Postby bonger » Sat Oct 02, 2010 2:10 pm

Hi All

Well we finally did it, went out and bought a new fridge for camping adventures. We settled on the Primus 3rd generation 60L. We were tossing up between that and the 40L Engel but for the price and a couple of features that come with it we decided to bite the bullet and go for the lesser researched by me :)

has anyone had any issues/problems with this fridge.

What sold us -

Internal Light
Door open alarm - for our toddler
Door hinge opening differently from the engel
Stainless steel
Free transit bag
40mm thick at least
Remote guage (Current temp, Battery draw) that plugs into the cig lighter in the car.

Cooling it down now as we speak to make sure it gets nice and frosty in there :)

We hope we have made the right choice. Taking it for a test run to island reach in a couple of weeks. Hopefully getting my hands on a 80 watt panel as well for cheap for our trip to Flat Rock 2 weeks later.

CAMPTOBER IS ON! :beer

You never know how good a product is until you've finished with it.

Possibly 10 or 20 years later.

I'll be interested to see how it goes.

I have the ARB 57L fridge/freezer, works ok so far. Has the light, buttons and stuff.

heh....i don't think i actually helped at all.

But yeah, you have it now, so it'd be good if you can post up some reports on how it works, so other peolpes can gauge the quality. :armsup

I tend to think they are all pretty similar in quality, for around $1000 you get the usual gear. I guess some products have stuff ups but the basic design is the same throughout the range.

Well after plugging it in at the weekend to test it, the current temp when first plugged in was 26 degrees, after 35 minutes, the temp on the display was 2 degrees. Im happy with that. Will fit into my camper with about 3mm to spare so that is good too. (didnt think of that when we bought it) so now it doesnt have to go in the car.

We have a 60L 2 way Primus that is about 2 years old and it has run like clock work.

It not only does us for camping but we also use it on job sites.

Don't think you will be dissappointed Bonger.
