Australia Day Weekend

A place to talk about anything well just about anything (this is a family show remember).

Australia Day Weekend

Postby Kramer » Thu Jan 18, 2007 5:36 pm

Whats everyone doing for the Australia day weekend?

I will be going camping near Miara which is 20mins out of Bundaberg, I will be drinking lots of beer while listening to the hottest 100 on Triple J, oh some fishing might be had while I am there, also maybe a trip or two down to the Yandaran pub and hang with the locals, there are rumours that some have scars on the side of their neck where the other head was removed

So I will fit in well then :?#

We're off down south to a place called Augusta. It's on the southern most tip of W.A. Some good beach and river fishing. My son is going away with another family so will be a nice time to spend with my wife.

hey Kramer, if you're camping near Miara and not on private property you must be either at Norval Park or across the river at Miara on the point up from Moore Park.

Or is there somewhere I don't know about? :? (secret spot)

This isn't really a secret spot but its a paddock just north of the caravan park, you can still walk to the caravan park from there, this way I can have my dogs as well :armsup This is right on the mouth of the Kolan river. I thought about going up to Norval park but Melinda wanted a shower :( But I also know how to get from Miara up to Norval Park without getting on the main road again :--? So I may go for a fish up there as well.

The place your staying at Bushcamper looks good, but I can think of better places to stay than Childers :) I suppose Hervey Bay would be a good day trip and maybe Maryborough might have some markets on that weekend too.

We should be able to fill the weekend with some of this.

go to "SEE & DO"and at the bottom of the page click on "7 day itinerary"

http://www.mangohillcottages.com/index2.htm

Is the paddock private land or part of the van park?

The next trip should be a little more adventurous

I think we're staying home, it doesn't look too safe to go camping at the moment down here and we just don't do caravan parks(well I would but the person who reckons he's the man of the house won't).

The Paddock is either owned by the State (Crown Land) or is owned by Bundaberg sugar, no-one seems to care that we camp there, I try and keep it clean but it only takes 1 idiot to wreck it for the rest of us!

You have got to love the 7 day itinerary for Childers most of it is out of town, but its a good spot to centralise yourself. Burrum Heads has supposed to have changed a lot too I was going to try and go for a drive last time I was in Hervey Bay but didn't get the time in the end.

I remember a show where they said if a town has got nothing to offer in it's own right, then it becomes the gateway to somewhere.........Childers seems to be the gateway to e v e r y w h e r e :armsup

We were looking for some piece and quiet away from the crowds, I think we should be right at Childers :***

I's been a while since we've been to Burrum Heads, might be worth a drive
