Help Wanted

Postby Adam v » Fri Oct 29, 2010 11:49 am

Hey Guys
Myself and a group of friends are going on our first road trip together. We are leaving from Tasmania and going up the east coast to Maroochydore. None of us have all that much money but we enjoy an adventure. I was wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions for us as far as free/cheep campsites go on the way up the coast.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks heaps

Purchase a Camps Aust Wide 5 book from you local auto club if you are a member or any book shop. Also check out http://ozcamps.net/ is the best advice I can give you.

Adam.....you have provided very little info so it is difficult to do much else.

Sorry about the small amount of info. We dont have any schedule or plans, so there is not really much information which I can give. I was just looking for any advice that people with more local experience would be willing to give.
Thanks for the information

How many people
what vehicle/s
what time of year
how long

.....are just some of the questions that strike me as being important.

a pair of shoes and a cask of wine every couple of days, and start walking, and sleep on the beach. Probably the cheapest way! :armsup

We drove from Brisbane to Cape Tribulation in an XF Falcon in about 1989, 4 blokes with a carton of beer in the back seat aswell. We took one tent and camped along the way, we found some nice beaches to camp on for free. ahh back in the old days :armsup

It will be hot at that time of year, so stop for lots of swims on the way.

yeah check out Gyspys ozcamps link up there for some ideas.

Adam......Have you guys considered turning it in to a ''Working'' holiday.....Labour is very short up here in the orchards, gardens etc ,,you can make great $$$ just picking Strawberries.......
A number ...if not 'most' employers will let you camp where you work.

Hi Adam,

It will be hard to find cheap campsites along the coast, especially at that time of the year. But most NP are quite cheap. Usually less than $10 pp per night, I think.
