Frozen!

Postby Soren G » Sun Nov 21, 2010 2:50 pm

G´day to all!
Well,I got a story to tell!
It´s about my ct,but it´s more or less a story,so I am not putting it into the trailer forum (it doesn´t matter for you lucky varmints anyway!)

So,I prepared my trailer for winter,a month ago.I washed it,waxed it and cleant it.I drained all the water and blew the rest water out of the lines.
Than, because I wanted to be ON THE SAFE side,I filled the system with rv antifreeze (blowing out the line leaves always a risk of rest water, that might collect somewhere and does damage).
So,I used a brand product (Prestone, also known for car antifreeze) and I was SURE that I had done everything right.....or so I thought.....
Well, yesterday was the first night that it hit -22°C and I checked my trailer....everything frozen! Not solid though, more like slight packed snow, but well on it´s way to really freeze up and burst my lines or wreck my water pump ( a hundredfifty Dollar "pop" ::() )....
So,it turns out that the antifreeze was no good (for whatever reason) and that I had to do it the hard way:turn on the heater, melt the ice and blow out the lines.......
Thank goodness there was no damage done to the system (if I had seen a puddle,I would have gone :-bang )
Was already bad enough the way it was, worst of all,it wrecked totally my day that I had intended for other work to be done....
Guess I have the :booty -end of things....hope that turns around pretty soon.....

p.s:with things like these happen to me,I understand why Australia is called "the lucky country"....now I have to be jealous of you guys!

Cheers Gernod
