Australia Day Weekend

A place to talk about anything well just about anything (this is a family show remember).

Australia Day Weekend

Postby amanda » Thu Jan 25, 2007 10:18 am

Is anyone heading anywhere fun for this weekend? I'm heading off to Stanthorpe this afternoon - haven't been there in a very long time. Looking forward to relaxing at the campsite by the river, and giving a few (or many) of the local wines a taste. What's every one else up to?

We leave for Augusta tomorrow ... it's on the South West corner of W.A. We weren't going to go anywhere until we found out the temps in Perth are going to be 38 plus ... Augusta shouldn't be anymore than 30 ... I hope!

Good luck everyone!

Going camping in Killalea State Park near Kiama, NSW. Just checked http://www.bom.gov.au/ and it looks like the weather is going to be just fine.

We ended up camping at "County Style" at Stanthorpe. Camp site was OK but was teeming with internatinal backpackers that were living in their tents for the fruit picking season. They got together each night to play very loud techno music which didn't exactly add to the overall camping experience. Then after not getting a lot of sleep due to the music and partying we were woken up at 5.00am by a generator being turned on about 50 meters from our tent. Add to that the heat, flies and ants and I guess it wasn't our most succesful trip away. But never mind, we'll just cross that one off the list and head in another direction next time.

ooo another late update thingy...

I went along to the Tough Tracks 4x4 Comp that was held at Janowen Park, near Warwick. A great weekend, plenty of carnage on the tracks, and too much alcohol at camp, as usual.
