The Island caravan village - Port Stephens

Postby 4800Patrol » Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:03 pm

Decided to join this site today and are amazed at all the great post that i have read already - anyway down to business.

The family and I are looking at staying at the Island Caravan Village by means of camping between Xmas and New Year. It is near Bobs Farm on Port Stephens.

We are hoping to mainly go boating, with a lot of fishing and free boarding behind the boat.

Does anyone have any information either good or bad?

Hi 4800 Patrol

We are from the Central Coast and only recently went to The Island Holiday Village to check out the place in the view of camping there out of holiday times. We went up there in the peak of the school holidays, and even though it was busy, it still looked really nice. Only stayed there an hour, but I would be happy to stay there again.

They are situated right on the western side of Port Stephens, so you are on the lake side, but only about 5 mins drive to Anna Bay and One Mile Beach. Controlled pets are allowed, but not on the main beach area in the park. Do you have pets?

The foreshore looked really nice, littered with trees providing really nice areas of shade while kids, if you have them, played on the beach.

From what we saw, I was really impressed. The only thing however, is it is located down a dirt road coming from the main highway. Not too rough though so it didn't bother us.

Hope this helps.
Nenie.

Nenie,
Thankyou for the information in your post.

We have booked the camping sites for the new year week. We thought that we would give it a go anyway.

Yes we do have a dog that we will be taking with us and the kids will enjoy a swim or two also from what hear.

We are also taking the boats, so that we may do some fishing. We also like to just jump in the boats with a esky full of food and drinks and a full fuel tank and explore the waterways whenever we go somewhere new.

The dirt road is the least of my worries.

Again,
Thankyou
