The NPWS in NSW seems a bit precious with their fire rules sometimes. I was told not to light the 3-way fridge in NP once!
The restriction doesn't have a lot to do with fuel load or the amount of rain but rather the number of ways to get campers (and other visitors) out of harms way should a fire break out. Often the only way/s out are through bush or along roads/tracks that the Rural Fire Service will need to use to get to the fire. The last thing the guys need is Norm and Beryl towing a caravan behind the Magna in their way...
Trust me people and their vehicles do funny things where there is a fire around!
