There are a couple of ways to do that trip.

If you head toward Nyngan there is good camping there on the river at the CP. Cobar is nice and I think Wilcannia has either a campsite or CP on the river. We stopped for a look but decided to continue up to White Cliffs when we were out that way...

Can't help with the other way other than to suggest that one way you would most likely go through Hay and or Mildura, both would have a CP.

Google Hatta state forest

http://www.parkweb.vic.gov.au/resources05/05_0337.pdf

the state park is wonderfull.
Parks Victoria have numerous free camps along the Murray.
You could spend months on the Murray.

Overall that is correct Rosco....I have no knowledge of any that are pet friendly and will happily stand corrected if someone can prove otherwise.

Forgive me...if I'm reading it wrong Titch...

Hattah-Kulkyne National Park

And your saying its a park...with-in a park....or...adjoining .......Reading again I see it does say ''adjoining''

We have many National Parks We would love to visit...and stay in BUT....No Pets allowed up this way.
