[Qld] Bejelke Peterson Dam 02/2011

Postby stevo. » Fri Feb 11, 2011 2:06 pm

Just pulled up at BP Dam, heaps of water, but still dirty flood water brownish colour.

Here's my camp site, beside the water so the tinnie cant stay in the water. Not many people here at the moment.

I'll try add some more pics later, maybe after a few beers :armsup

hah ok, yeah it's not bad, and no one around yet. I had a bad dream that 1000s of people would be here when i woke up, but it's still quiet. All misty on the water at the moment, and pretty cool temps.

A friend came out aswell with his camper trailer.

I caught one fish and one crayfish, both in pots, nothing with the rods. There was a fishing club there doing a fishing competition and they only caught three fish and three crayfish.

The campsite beside the water is pretty good, as GP will know. It was nice and quiet, and pretty private. I guess it'd be busy on long weekends.

$10 per night per person for that campsite.

GP, i think the dam must be over 100% because in one of the inlets up the back there was a windmill and fence in the water, looked humurous.

Yes can see the bird hide too....great spot but I think we should keep it a secret Steve.

Just Googled the dam level and it is saying 100%

We where there late Feb "12" and the dam was spilling

But the place was run down and others were making comments on the state of the park, we have camped there 3 or 4 times now and hope it improves next time or it will be the last time for us :?

Here is a pic from back in 2005 when it only had 9% water, later is 2006 they closed the van park due to no water available for a couple years

Here is a picture of the spillway, I'm in my kayak approx 50m back, it was only 4 or 5cm from spilling, it was taken Dec 2010
