Cold weather camping

Postby jezzabel » Mon Feb 21, 2011 9:16 pm

This june/july we are going to Oberon nsw to camp o/nite and go to the caves etc.

This will be our first "cold weather "camping experience other than going to the south cost of NSW during the winter.

We have Black wolf turbo plus 300 tent, Oztrail blaxland and lawson bags, self inflating mattresses, etc

I am just looking for some tips that may make our trip a little more enjoyable/comfortable.

Plenty of hot food and good Scotch

HOT WATER BOTTLES.....also remember to insulate both under and on top of your mattress. Use an old wool blanket or underlay

There is a thread on here with lots of tips for winter camping.....

One year that I camped at Stanthorpe in June the lowest temp I recorded inside the annex was -5....camped there on Storm King Dam for about 8 days from memory.

I had a couple hot water bottles with lambs wool covers, flannelet sheets, a woolen blanket and down doona.....warm as toast.

Yeah but then I'd have to put up with all his nonsense too......hot water bottles are much cosier and don't answer back, don't have to be fed or picked up after...and the list goes on.

I can do most of those things myself Rosco and am use to doing them with the exception of the changing a tyre. Can change it on the CT but not the Cruiser and I have roadside assistance for that!!
