QLD - Sharp Park / River Bend Camping Ground - Canungra

Visisted Sharp Park and River Bend Camping Ground near Canungra.

This is an aerial of the two campgrounds.

Facilities include toilets, fire pits, tables, dogs allowed (on leash), nearby creek. The camp is about 4km from Canungra where you will find a convience stores, Caltex, and a heap of coffee shops.

There had been a fair bit of rain in the past week from storms, so thats why is looks a little muddy etc.

Across the Coomera River from Sharp Park is River Bend Camping Ground and is also operated by Beaudesert Shire Council. There is no day use area, not as much shade and a bit further from the creek, but is less used than Sharp Park.

I was at Sharp Park 2 weeks ago...the price has gone up to $6 per person per night and I must say the grounds are looking very tidy. Probably the best I have ever seen it and surprisingly I don't have any pics, so bring on the pics Dave.

Actually, I tell a lie....I have one pic only.

The area on the left that used to be for day trippers is now for campers.

Ok, by judguing by previous posts, not much has changed.
The grounds are very well looked over, was very impressed on the cleanliness of the place, even with lots of campers.
The price is still $6 an adult, and $3 for children (check the Scenoic Rim coucil website for more deatils).
The only thing i would say, for the amount of people/campers the toilet facilities should be enlarged to accommodate.
The creek was looking very invitiing, not only for us humans, but also the wildlife. Snakes were often seen riding the little rapids, trying to cross from one side to the other. At nightfall, while fishing, a small platypus was seen, but no fish were caught.
I will be going back again, as it is a top spot, not too far from home.
I did however get a flat tyre on my way home

Just came back from here two days ago, still the same $6 a night,Care Takers were lovely though moving on this week, grounds are kept very clean and tidy, some lady came around with a trailer full of fire wood for sale didn`t think to ask how much as it was raining so i didn`t plan on having afire, knowing i was on my own they checked daily to see if all was ok,some very noisy foul language people with fighting dogs were asked to move on. I love it, close to home clean and peaceful and pet friendly. 2 ks out of Canungra town, bakery, supermarket, pub if you wish.
The Lord is my shepard,i shall not want......only sometimes.

I was there a couple weeks ago......really lovely, I agree. I camped on the River Bend side this time, never camped that side before and I really think it is a tad better than the Sharpe Park side. No day trippers to disturb you.

We spent the weekend before Easter at Riverbend campgound, it's a very nice spot. The managers/caretakers do a great job - grounds are very well kept, the facilities are clean, they regularly empty the rubbish bins that are scattered around the park, and they come around each evening offering firewood (not sure if it's free or not, we had our own so didn't need it). Each campsite has it's own fire ring, not very big, but quite OK to sit around having a beer :cheers

Our 2 year old, and all the other kids around the park, loved the creek. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the platypus's (platypi?).

The park was reasonably busy, but not uncomfortably so. The Easter weekend would have been different - we could see all the reserved signs up, and I can imagine it would have been packed.

The fees were $8 / night for adults, not sure about kids (under 5 are free). This may have been a school holiday rate, as the Scenic Rim Council website says it's $6 / night. Pretty cheap regardless, given the quality of the campground.

We might be going back in a few weeks with some friends. I have a few pics, will hopefully get around to posting them one day ...
Cheers,
Sean
