Looking At Rocky!

Postby Ian S » Wed Mar 16, 2011 11:01 am

Sharon and I are heading up to Rockhampton for the weekend. Looking at moving up that way maybe...if things go to plan.
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a park or camp area to set up for the night. I've checked out freecamps and they seem to be out of town a ways. Looking at setting up then looking around the town so security is plus.

Thanks guys...
Ian

Sorry to say that Rocky has a very big reputation as being NOT free camping friendly.

I have camped at the CP at Gracemere and it was delightful, very friendly management and very clean though it was some years ago. I could not find a website for it but here are the contact details.

118 Old Capricorn Hwy
Gracemere QLD 4702
Phone number(07) 4933 1310

Thanks GL, I don't mind hitting and paying for CP this weekend as we wqant to be off looking around and at some rental properties. I'll give them a call, so far the Riverside Tourist Park seems the cheapest.
If I end up moving up there that means I'll have further to go to catch up for the group hugs, oops I mean camps...lol
Nothing definate yet just seeing what happens.

G L Is right ,the local council is against freecamps.
The town is good but,may still be a few debris around.
