Evakool fridge/freezer

Postby Val n Rob » Thu Mar 24, 2011 7:46 am

gidday all, we are looking at buying a 2nd fridge/freezer for drinks and vege in the van. We already have a 47lt ARB f/f but never seems to be enough room for everything. I have looked on another forum page and someone there has brought an Evakool f/f for under $700. 55 lt. They have them on australiandirect.com.au, which is where this person brought it from. He is very happy with it. Has anyone got one of these and can they recommend them?????

Thanks ::)

I left that up to Avis to pick which one she wanted.....She decided on the 'DOMETIC'...We seem happy with it (3way...works better on LPG)

we brought a 3 way fridge from Super Cheap, can't remember the brand (supposedly made by Waeco) but it is sitting in our laundry not being used. First time we used it on gas - fantastic! Next time out, had problems lighting the gas. Kept blowing out in the slightest puff of wind, didn't try on 12v. Waste of money, it cost $350 and unfortunately lost our docket so couldn't return it.
Live and learn.....

cheers Val :cry: :cry:

ps. 3 others we know of brought the same fridge and had problems too. One took his back to Super Cheap and had a huge "discussion" with Management before they gave his money back.

We have had no problems with this one running on all 3.
We run it on 240v at home to cool it down then flick it onto 12v while travelling....then either 240v if we have a powered site....LPG when freedom camping.
It works as either a F/F...or just a big fridge if we take the removable wall out.
We got a pretty good discount as We bought this the same day as we bought the new F/F to go in the bus....I think this one was around $1000. discounted and the big one was $2,800....which we got for $2,000 on the day....camping & caravan show day specials.
