Something we don't see anymore

Came across these pics today and thought I'd like to share these with you. They were taken at Double Island Point in January 2003.

Some of you may never have seen the Cherry Venture and for those of you who have, this is but a memory.

yeah, we were there around the same time GP, i have few photos somewhere, i thought it'd be there forever, You used to be able to walk inside it, but as most know, it's condition went down hill very quickly and collapsed then was fenced off for a while.

Removal

In late 2006 it was announced that the wreck would be demolished due to increasing dangers posed by the wreck, including exposed asbestos in the engine room.[5][6]

The removal process, which necessitated cordoning off a section of public highway which runs along the beach next to the wreck, began on February 13, 2007.

They removed the super structure in between my pics and yours Steve. It did not happen naturally.

I originally saw her within 12-18 months after she ran aground but do not have any pics from that time. It was some years later that I went back and could not believe it was the same structure, so much of it had been salvaged in the interim period.

Then of course there was the discussion of turning her into a restaurant, which of course never happened.

Josh, unfortunately I did not date my photos so have no idea of the time in between the two.

Just one more reason why I love digital pics.....can always find a date
