What's your plan - Queens Birthday Long Weekend

Postby Mark B » Sun Apr 01, 2012 7:42 pm

Hi all,

Just finished booking in for our June long weekend away with nothing but the tent and a roaring fire out past Warburton.

Anyone else made their minds up where they are planning on heading for the June long weekend?

Paronella Park is definitely worth the effort. We visited when we lived up in Cairns. You won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure when or what we are doing....still trying to work out what the dates are here in QLD, from the QLD state gov
*** From 2012, the Queen’s Birthday holiday moves to the first weekend in October. In 2012, a special Queen’s Diamond Jubilee holiday will be celebrated on the current day – second Monday in June.

and with a new gov now in control will wait and see..

Cheers

I think I remember WA has the public holiday in October as well. At least I am sure they did when we lived over there a couple of years ago.

Here in Qld most, if not all the public holidays are in the first half of the year and after plenty of people answered an online survey about spreading them out, only then did the old state gov decide to move the Queens Birthday holiday. If they left it as it was basicly after the second week in June each year there are no more public holidays till Xmas.

I hope the new incoming gov don't change it back.....

Qld this year will see us having 2 long weekends for the Queen's Birthday.....one in June and the second in October.

Personally I cannot see the new govt changing that. Time will tell though.

Paronella Park is really something to see. Saw it many years ago but they hadn't finished the restoration at that stage.

On the computer its telling me that our 2nd Queens birthday this year is on the 7th October....2012
Unfortunatly this date is a Sunday....So does that mean there is no holiday for it....or....will it be observed on the Mon 8th ??????

Cheers :beer

It will be held on the Monday as always Rosco....it is not date specific; it is weekend specific.
