Backpacker's - Why

Postby Lockyer » Thu May 24, 2012 8:22 am

While away on the weekend and chatting with a ranger about some issue's I mention that a van had arrived the tonight before around 7pm and left early around 6 am, and he said "backpacker's" they now have a black book hidden somewhere on the internet that has all the times for different places on were and when you should arrive and leave so as to not have to pay....

Seem's to be place's where rangers either don't live on site or there is a distance between office and camp ground.
So how long before backpacker's destory or get closed down some of these camping area's...?

Cheers
Lawrence

They give campers and travelers alike a bad name....shame as most people cannot distinguish between the us and them.

.........

I certainly hope we don't look like them....(30yrs ago...maybe...lol)

Its only a matter of time Lockyer and Australia will follow NZ in banning certain practices like freedom camping in some areas.....Mainly due to bad hygene practices caused by ''Bikers & Backpacker's' and for
leaving behind their rubbish when they move on.

Cheers

The park we stayed at in Mallacoota also had issues with backpackers and the one's that drive those 'Wicked' vans as they would use the park's amenities for free showers and also to plug in all their mobile devices to recharge. The park owner kicked a chick out while we were staying there last year. And because the park is co-joined with the public wharf they have easier access, but the park owner spotted the van and had them booted out within minutes.......

The real shame is that she said she only charged them $2 for a shower but they were too cheap to even pay that.....very damn rude!!!!!!
