Wagga Wagga Australia Day + Weekend

Postby Bradd » Sun Jan 22, 2012 5:23 pm

Heading off to Wagga Wagga on Thursday (26th Jan) - Sunday

Have read about several locations along the Murrumbidgee river,
with Oura Beach being the only one I've seen a photo of (looks nice)

Any suggestions / comments / reccomendations / warnings about the area would be appreciated.

Wondering if you still went to Wagga Bradd????

Not sure about camping spots but the river is beautiful as we used to live there years ago & they have a lovely beach called 'Wagga Beach" hahahah :+

Wonder how it all looks after the floods???

I think they are moving the caravan park that is on the river and relocating it further along due to it being flooded so often.

I have never visited Wilks Park but it seems to be making the news a bit lately.....

Local council have restricted it to a 72hr stop-over now. Local van park owners are asking for it to be made into a bbq area only and not free camp due to their business losses.

http://www.dailyadvertiser.com.au/news/local/news/general/wagga-caravan-park-owners-frustrated-as-campers-enjoy-a-free-ride/2121243.aspx

It seems pretty popular and has toilets, bbq, pet friendly, big rigs are accepted & water. It's also in the Camps 6 book & RACV.

Wonder what the outcome will be????

Unfortunately we are losing too many freebies because of greedy CP owners.

Free camping travelers will just move on to somewhere that has free camping and then many other businesses in the town will lose out. This is a well documented fact.

Mind you there are some travelers who only ever stay in a CP and that is their choice and it suits their lifestyle but there are many who choose not to and often cost is a big factor.

Many long term travelers have little more income than their pensions and if they had to always stay in a CP then there would be very little traveling done.

Not sure why CP owners think that it is always only about them and that no other business in the town.

You should still be able to have the choice...... These CP owners still wouldn't get their business even if the freebie camp was gone, like you said Gypsy they would just go to the next town.

Wagga is a big city which on the news the other night was said to be updating and expanding one of the bigger shopping centres in the CBD so things must be doing OK there...... so the CP owners might want to look at their own business more closely and stop finding excuses.

You hit the nail right on the head XB. The CP owners should take responsibility for their own problems and not try to lay the blame elswhere.

As far as I know, Oura Beach is still free without limits. Have put it up on my forum.
