In car hat rack?

Postby geekcampgirl » Wed Apr 11, 2007 8:02 am

I saw the greatest little invention the other day while in someone else's Patrol and want one for myself.

It is a spring loaded hat rack that attaches to the mirror stem and holds hats against the roof of the car.

Who sells these things? The local camping store had no idea (and said that I should tell them if I found out).

Any ideas?

too bad

That's a shame. I wonder if anyone who has one reads this forum? Or someone who knows someone who has one.

My friend, whose car I was in, has replied to me too, and she thinks that her husband got it at a saddlers in Wagga.

Does that help anyone?

Hat saver

Postby Chippy76 » Wed Apr 11, 2007 6:36 pm

Try your local saddlery or country clothing shop. Its called a hat saver and is made in the states. I have one in the Cruiser and it's a great idea. From memory my sister bought it through an RM Williams store. Tho Greg Grant Saddlery, Horseland or similar places will most likely stock them ... They retail for around $40 - $50 ...

Thank you for that.

I will follow that up. There was me thinking it was a 4 wheeler's item, but it seems to be a horse owners's one instead. I wonder where they fit it on the horse?

I saw something like you are describing at ARB store here in Brissy (Nudgee Road).
I looked at it and thought wow a small peice of metal for about $40!

Might be what you need.............

I found one

Postby geekcampgirl » Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:15 am

Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions.

I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Perth last week and bought one at Horseland in Maddington.

It was reassuring to walk in, ask for one, and get a prompt "of course" response from the assistant. I was getting sick of blank looks from shop assistants in other stores.
