Found a little write up about a camping group in Camper Trailer Australia magazine:

http://www.nrcc.net.au/ wrote:

UNITED we Stand ---- DIVIDED we Fall

Campers Co-Op Club

The National Recreational Campers Club (NRCC) is new on the scene of campers, and we are currently running a recruitment drive. The NRCC caters for all forms of camping, being Motorhomes, campervans, caravans, 5th wheelers, slide-ons, camper trailers, 4WDs and tent owners.

We need to unite all the campers out there, there are some 140 listed Caravan Clubs but the clubs normally limit membership to about 50. 50 times 140 is about 7000 people. There are some 300,000 caravans registered in Oz. Then there must be around 30000+ motorhomes and campervans. Then add to the above all those that have tents,4WD, camper trailers and go camping. Therefore from the the above fiqures we need to UNITE and be counted. If we stay the way we are now then nothing will eventuate.

The aim of the club is to unite all campers in a bid to lobby state and other bodies as required to obtain benefits for the camper. In return, because we are operating as a Co-Op there will be member benefits, such as a discount fuel card, cheaper or comparable insurance, mail forwarding for those doing the big one. We are always looking for ways for our members to benefit.

It dosen't look like a bad idea I am toying with the idea of joining but would like comments from everyone here, the web site is http://www.nrcc.net.au/ not the best set out website in the world but it is functional.

I saw that ... it's anti-democratic. You can't vote for the executive committee, they are permanent. I find that VERY sus ... :#

Unfortunately thats the way too many internet forum / groups / clubs / commitees are.

At http://www.mobileentertainment.com.au (formerly http://www.caraudioaustralia.com) I've been trying for age to get individual elected committees in each state and to become incorperated in each state. But the powers the be say "no" because its "too much work". What the fail to realise is that if something goes wrong and someone decides to sue then the owners are completely liable legally.

I maybe over cautious but this sounds a little like a scam.
Why would they want to buy land to start up a "Head Office" and have workshops for repairs. Not much use to me in SA.
It sound slike a great idea to feather someone else's nest. I seriously doubt they couold pull off the discount fuel and food cards.

In the NEWS section they claim Caravan Parks want to charge $40 a site. They can do what they hell they like. But it won't last long when no-one books in. A lot of Parks will just close. I doubt they would have any looby power vias the net.
Any man, in the right situation, is capable of murder. But not any man is capable of being a good camper. So, murder and camping are not as similar as you might think.
