If it's going to be your first camping trip, going in the snow may not be the best idea
Under the best weather, most 1st time camping trips are small disasters
As you forget so much stuff you need, and take a lot that you don't.
If your prepared to go ahead, you will want a good quality tent, but most importantly a good sleeping bag and mattress, and something to keep you 'off' the ground, as this get's really really cold. So ideally a few layers of sutff before you and your sleeping bag. And you'd want a decent bag, I'd probly get one rated to -10 ish, and use blankets on top if its really cold. Can get these for between $120-$200, but the sky's the limit really, have heard of bags being $500+
