New Camp Ovens From Southern Metal Spinners

Postby Derek Bullock » Wed Jun 13, 2007 5:53 pm

I had a conversation with Bill Thompson, owner of Southern Metal Spinners today and he advises me that he is about to go into production with three new camp ovens in sizes 10" a 12" and a 15". As soon as they are available I will be posting photos on my website.

Stay tuned for a complete new production of the famous spun steel Bedourie Camp Ovens.

Sounds good Derek.

Just a question how do you find the spun steel compares to cast iron?

Ive finally got my cast iron camp oven getting that good ol' cast iron camp oven taste. Some thing its really been lacking up until now.
Cooked some awesome apple and rhubarb pies in it on the nullarbor whilst kel and I were away.

Received notification today that there is a parcel at the post office so am assuming they are here. Photos coming soon.

I have used a Bedourie camp oven for over 25 years and love using it. Photo of it below with a fresh batch of pumpkin fruit muffins

Derek, Found these at the Charleville Historical House Museum.

Don't know how old they are though. The brand was Sampson.
