Google Maps

Postby Derek Bullock » Fri Aug 24, 2007 4:11 pm

For those interested I have just embedded Google Maps on my website at http://www.aussiecampovencook.com/googlemaps.htm

It's currently set on Wagga Wagga where I live however you can grab it with your mouse and move to around. We sit on the mighty Murrumbidgee River. See if you can follow it to its source in the mountains.

Click on the link at the bottom to take you to Google Maps to do your own search.

It's a handy tool but there are some glitches in it. When we wanted to travel from Broken Hill to Bourke it told us we had to do a very large dog leg simply becuase the artwork on the road was 'broken'!

But it's still handy ... I used it to check the distance from Hervey Bay to Coffs last week. Very accurate!

Cheers!

Distortion in the aerial photos. Note that they are taken at different times. Seaming the photos together is very time consuming and a bit costly. We just did it at work so we could get better alignment with property boundaries

Good pick up.

It's Nerang.

28° 0'16.47"S
153°20'57.91"E

Turn on the Roads layer and see how far out they are out.
