Near the beach camping within 2hrs of Sydney

Postby Dave M » Tue Mar 28, 2006 9:37 am

Hi there,

I'm looking for a camping site near the beach within 2hrs of Sydney, North or South (east or west won't work ;)

I'm originally from Port Stephens so have been spoilt with Hawks Nest and Mungo Brush etc, is there any top spots in a similar league around Syd?

I've been using google earth to scan the coast, i recommend it!
you are win

Nothing to the Mungo Brush level - that's why we go up there... But there are some nice spots around The Royal National Park.

Bundeena - http://www.theage.com.au/news/New-South-Wales/Bundeena/2005/02/17/1108500192920.html

If you've got a 4wd there's Stockton Beach

There's no formal camping there, but council says it's ok to throw up a tent next to the car overnight...

Hope this helps.

Mungo is only and extra hour, just speed :P

Bundeena is nice, but as mentioned nothing compared with Mungo.
Could try around Gosford/Brooklyn, I know theres good fishin there but have never camped around there. Stocktons ok but pretty messy, and busy.
Life's too short to be grumpy, SMILE
